As if that wasn’t intriguing enough, Disney also announced Disney Plus Originals; content that would only be available on their subscription based platform. And these originals weren’t looking to be simple and cheap either. No, Disney went all out in order to ensure their subscribers would get content worth well beyond $6.99 a month. Well, now Disney Plus is finally here and you might be overwhelmed by all there is to watch. That’s where we come in. Here are “25 Things To Be Watching on Disney Plus.” The movie stars Rose and Monte, two dogs who were rescued off the streets in order to give a real life touch to Lady and Tramp. Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux give extra personality to the pups through their voice acting performances. Featuring a hilarious performance from Bill Hader as well as Anna Kendrick basically just playing Anna Kendrick, “Noelle” can be enjoyed by a close family or really a group of friends who just want a movie they can make fun of. On Disney Plus, you’ll also find things like “Recess,” “Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers,” “DarkWing Duck,” “Boy Meets World,” “Timon & Pumba,” “Hercules,” “The Lilo & Stitch Series…” The list is practically endless! We can’t even name them all! From silly movies like “Hatching Pete” to classics like the “Lizzie McGuire Movie” and “Halloween Town” to Disney Channel’s cult favorite, “High School Musical,” Disney Plus has them all! Think about if Glee, The Bachelor, Parks & Recreation, High School Musical, and The Office had an accidental baby and rather than figure out who the parents actually were, decided to raise the child together, despite how screwed it would grow up to be. That’s High School Musical; The Musical; The Series. And if that isn’t the recipe for a perfect guilty pleasure show, I really don’t know what is. “The Happiest Place On Earth” is the nickname associated with Walt Disney’s famous theme parks; Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and more. That nickname isn’t easy to earn however, and “The Imagineering Story” will show you exactly why. Walter Disney had a near impossible dream, and once he passed, it was up to the artists and engineers, known as “Imagineers” to ensure that his legacy lived on. This show follows the adventures of Donald Duck’s nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie as they’re left in the care of their great uncle, Scrooge McDuck. When Scrooge decides to come out of retirement, the three ducks are in for not just one but hundreds of crazy adventures. And while the 1987 series is a classic, we can’t recommend enough that you check out the 2017 reboot! With a beautifully modern animation style and hilarious new takes on old characters, this show is a must-watch! Oh, and did we mention that they have a pet platypus who’s actually a secret agent in disguise? Because that happens and it’s glorious. New original content will be produced for the show in the near future. This show will have you hooked from start to finish and is one of the best mystery shows ever made, despite originally being targeted towards a younger audience. And seriously, you really should check out the newest collection of Mickey Mouse shorts. They’re both incredible and oddly charming. Another thing that makes Spider-Man unique is actually how many different ways he’s been portrayed. You can enjoy almost all the different variations of Spider-Man through Disney Plus, from his 80s cartoon to different appearances in the MCU. While his standalone films haven’t found their way onto the platform yet, rumor has it that Disney is trying their best to get the Homecoming series as well as “Into the Spider-Verse.” “The Simpsons” is a part of Disney and a big reason you might want to check out Disney Plus. You’ll find pretty much the entire 30 Season series waiting for you to binge; much more than you can handle with only a seven-day free trial, I’m afraid. An additional fun feature, hitting the “Skip Intro” button will bring you to the END of the theme song rather than skipping it all together. This means that even if you skip the majority of the opening, you’ll still get to enjoy the couch gag every episode. Some fans have complained that the show has been released in its remastered format, meaning stretched to fit more modern televisions, thus cutting out hidden background jokes. However, in early 2020, Disney will be adding the option to watch the first twenty seasons in their original 4:3 aspect ratio. The entire MCU is expected to eventually find its way onto Disney Plus but as of launch the ones immediately available are as follows: Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. It’s no secret that the MCU will to continue to grow, but thanks to Disney Plus, it’s going to expand in new and exciting ways. Original Limited Series featuring the original cast will premiere exclusively on the platform starting midway through 2020. Some standouts include a Loki show, Wanda/Vision, Falcon & The Winter Soldier, She-Hulk, MoonKnight, Hawkeye, and Marvel’s animated show, “What-If?” These shows will all tie into the theatrical films so if you want to stay up to date in the Marvel world, a Disney Plus subscription is all but unavoidable. Almost every Pixar Movie to date can be found on Disney Plus, and is organized by year of release and by particular franchise. And yes, all of their original short films are included as well. To give you a further idea, Episode 1 features the console from 2015’s “Inside Out.” People interact with the console to select different emotions and Improv actors produce different scenarios based on whatever mood-swing the audience puts them through. As we mentioned earlier, you can find all of these shorts inside Disney Plus’ Pixar Collection, but did you know it goes even further? Disney Plus features new Pixar short films produced specifically for the platform. Kicking off the launch was “Float,” a short about a dad who discovers his son has the ability to… well, float. We won’t go any further as to not spoil anything but trust us. It’s worth a watch. More shorts are confirmed to later premiere before 2019 is over. Want to learn more about Star Wars? Check out “Empire of Dreams” a documentary that teaches you incredible things about the Original Trilogy’s production and helps you realize just how impressive of a feat Star Wars is! And what about the Expanded Universe? Yup, Disney Plus also has the entirety of The Clone Wars, Rebels, and Resistance; canon additions to the Star Wars universe whose stories are told through animation. And as a special treat for lovers of “the Clone Wars?” The series is coming back! You heard that right. A final season of the show is being produced, expected to lead straight into Revenge of the Sith. And we’re STILL not done talking about new Star Wars content. In 2021, you can expect an Obi-Wan Kenobi eight part miniseries starring the one and only, “Hello there!” Ewan McGreggor! It’s enough to make a grown fan cry. “The World According to Jeff Goldblum” follows Jeff as he investigates seemingly normal everyday items like shoes and ice-cream. His mission? To prove how fascinating these little things actually are. Goldblum tackles the back stories, science, and even secret black-market dealings involved with objects you never imagined! We’ve already talked about Star Wars content, but “The Mandalorian” is in a category all its own. From the minds and direction of Jon Favreau, who launched the MCU, Dave Filoni, the show-runner of The Clone Wars, Rebels, and Resistance, and George Lucas himself, comes the story of a lone Bounty Hunter who’s sent on the most intense mission of his life. This series takes place after Return of the Jedi, when the Empire has fallen and no true power is in charge. The galaxy has never been more unpredictable. “The Mandalorian” is a show that Star Wars fans, despite how difficult they are to please, are unanimously praising for its story, cinematography, characters and design! Plus, let’s be honest. This show comes with the absolute cutest thing to ever come out of the Star Wars universe. We won’t spoil anything, but those of you who’ve watched already know exactly what I’m talking about.
